Making Your Wedding The Masterpiece You Want It To Be – Part 1

Author Veronica Foster

This is part one of making your wedding day the Masterpiece that all brides want their wedding day to be.  We’ll cover 5 really interesting tricks that brides overlook or don’t consider when planning their wedding day.

  1. Budget – Ok, so you have the ring – now your budget is not what things cost but what you want to spend on your wedding day.  The easiest formula is to determine a guest count let’s use 100 and say you want to spend $10,000 and have your wedding 14 months from now.  You’ll have to put away $715 per month – or just pay it on your wedding vendors.  If this fits what you can afford then go ahead and take the 10,000 and spread it out among the items that you’ll need for your wedding day – venue, dress, planner, photographer, videographer, cake, lighting, officiant, décor, etc…

Please also keep track during the planning period – each time you sign a contract or place a deposit or make a payment write it in the budget.

2. Timing – you don’t want your guests milling about but yet you don’t want everything rushed either.  Begin creating your wedding day timeline the same day that you reserve your wedding venue.  The most important times are in that contract.

Spread it out, figure out how much time you’ll need to get your hair done, travel time between ceremony and reception and make sure your guests – and you have enough time in between.

3.   Before the Décor comes in – Before you start planning your décor have the venue create a floor plan for you – with your estimated guest count.  This way you know what you need to order and how many.  It helps eliminate a lot of future changes and stresses.   A great example would be linens – the floor plan will tell you how many banquet tables, how many rounds and what size tables they are.

4.Choosing Colors or Theme – There is a very large difference having wedding colors is just having matching colors; having a wedding theme is different.  An example of some themes would be: Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Mardi Gras or my favorite a Pittsburgh Steeler themed wedding.  If you can’t decide go through Pinterest and look at some of the boards to get some ideas or better yet, sit down with your fiancé and find out what he likes and then add a little twist to it.

5. Hire Professionals – It is always tempting to let a family member do something for your wedding, it saves you money and lets them be a part of your day.  Sometimes it can truly hurt your wedding – and your memories of your special day.  Be smart about it, if they already run a business, by all means, but if they don’t – create a contract and have them sign it anyway.  You may not need to enforce it, but it puts a bug in their ear that you are serious about your wedding day!
