Rustic Vintage Wedding Ideas

As weddings evolve from year to year so do the trends. Country and rustic have been becoming more popular over the last couple of years. Recently, these weddings are surfacing with a more vintage flare with antique, weathered, or otherwise aged elements.

Here are some ideas for decorating your own rustic vintage wedding.

Weathered Barns. If you have lived in urban areas your entire life, you probably picture a barn as messy and smelly. For the most part, this is not so. Clear it out, sweep the floor, and you have a perfect venue for a good time. A barn’s structure naturally provides many places to hang decorations and lighting from both the rafters and walls.

Old frames and signs. Frames are no longer just for pictures! Use vintage frames around chalkboard signs or to hang mason jar flowers. Another popular use is as a photo booth prop. Barn board or vintage metal signs can also be used to direct guests, write the menu, or display a seating chart.

Vintage Suit cases. These are becoming popular as card boxes, to hold escort cards, or as other decorative elements.

Mason Jars.  Originally created for canning foods in the mid-1800s, the mason jar is now a decorating staple in vintage rustic weddings.. In fact, my daughter and I recently finished a new mason jar brainstorming section on MyOnlineWeddingHelp .There is a video plus nine different centerpiece looks to help get the “creative juices” flowing.

Vintage trucks. Old vehicles are making more frequent appearances in weddings. These are used as the “getaway” vehicle, in photos, and/or as part of the decor. Examples of the latter are filling a truck bed with potted plants and flowers and using it to support a menu sign; making the bed a dessert table; and using it to hold buffet or other supplies (hands fans, sparklers, plates, napkins, silverware, etc).

Hopefully, this has spurred ideas for your own wedding. You can find more here, on my Vintage Wedding Ideas pinboard.
