Polka dots are romantic, classic, exciting, and unique. Why not add some dots to your classic style wedding day?

In fashion, Polka Dots made it’s debut back in 1928 when our beloved Mini Mouse made her appearance in Walt Disney Illustrations. It has carried momentum throughout the years, going in and out of style. Now it is back and adorable as ever. Here are some impressive plays on the pattern for planning your wedding.

With a light dusting of dots through out this gown, it really delivers fun to a classic black and white style. This designer has done an excellent job of adding some whimsy to the gown, while still keeping it elegant. This is something you want to consider in all of your wedding design elements. We really recommend that you take into consideration that you want your photos to be timeless. You don’t want to look at your photos ten years (or less) from now and say “what was I thinking?”

This one is just gorgeous. Again, a touch of whimsy, but still very beautiful in terms of the overall design and flow of the fabric! Also note that her hair and make-up is very unassuming. We always recommend that you take one design idea and make it a focus – and keep everything else a little more subdued. In this case, the dress draws your attention. Image if this model was wearing bright red or hot pink lipstick? That is all you would see coming and you would lose the focus of this beautiful gown!

Here is a vintage gown with a nice arrangement of dots. Now, this clearly isn’t a look for everyone, but it is fun and worth seeing ! What makes this picture great, in my mind, is that the whimsical look is also portrayed in their smiles and body positioning. This photographer did an excellent job of capturing this moment!

Celebrate your union in this floating style dotted reception room. Personally, I think this is fun. Not sure if I love it for a wedding, but to each her own! Remember as in selecting the balance in your attire and make-up, you want to do the same in your reception room! With this draping, I would definitely keep the linens very simple, as well as the centerpieces and other elements in the room. For up lighting, I would recommend candlelight tones, with no added color. You don’t want it to look like a circus – or do you? Because if you do, that is a completely different story!

Cakes and cupcakes with polka dot accents are not a bad choice for a delicious dessert. These would be fun even if everything else were very traditional. Again, I personally love a touch of whimsy!

Nice collection of polka dot ideas! can’t say I have ever seen an actual bride in a polka dot dress, but guests look absolutely fabulous dressed like this! I love the personalised dress hanger idea too, as can never understand why classy designer wedding dresses are so often displayed on tacky plastic hangers when I go to photograph them! I could however, imagine polka dotted bone china as a lovely table arrangement or wedding favours….
