Author Maya Savanovich

But even this is a great opportunity to show that special guests were truly – special.

 Table’s shape and layout options

Whether the tables are to be round, oval, square or rectangular, and the size of the venue will depend on the level of crowding, i.e. prevalence. Tables placed too close to one another will not allow for comfortable “personal space”, and at those that are too widely spaced the guests could feel isolated.

Round tables for eight to ten people are very common, almost a classic option, although more modern solutions some inclined couples choose square shaped tables, also for eight people.

Rectangular tables may prove to be a practical solution because it can be stacked side by side and are more suitable for less formal weddings and especially for outdoor weddings.

Who, where and with whom

If it is a large wedding party, closest family members, maid of honor, groomsman and close friends can be placed at one long table, or spread them out on several tables placed close to yours.

In more traditional case, tables are placed just on one side, against the wall, so that the bride and groom and other guests remain unobstructed and can view of the entire venue, on the other hand, they are visible and accessible to all who wish to congratulate and have a nice chat with them.

These are great tips! Aside from a super casual picnic type reception, I really think seating arrangements are just about a necessity for any wedding. It really keeps down the confusion when the guests start arriving. I charted our seating arrangements with Microsoft Publisher and Excel. It made things so much more pleasant!
