 When you think of the 1950’s, images of women in sparkly sequin gowns with beautiful swept up hair and accessories probably comes to mind and rightfully so. It was classy, beautiful era and for this reason, many brides have chosen to invoke the style. Even if a completely 1950’s styled wedding or gown is not your thing, you can still accessorize with retro themed items or hairstyles that will bring a classy, enchanting, and unique spin to your wedding.

Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!

When it comes to wedding accessories, the bride has an endless array of choices. You can choose to go completely glam with a lavish dress, lots of glittery jewelry, and even a hairstyle that has glittering trinkets placed throughout, or you can downplay everything with a simple, elegant dress, your hair pulled softly back, and limited to no jewelry, or anything in between. Again, the choices are endless. Regardless of the style you choose, you can always enhance it with a retro up-do with a beautiful vintage piece that is sure to highlight, rather than distract.

A fabulous up-do is always a guaranteed way to twinkle, but highlighting it with the perfect vintage accessory can add the perfect touch. Vintage styles capture attention without drawing too much attention or appearing gaudy and the options available for invoking a retro up-do with vintage inspired pieces is limitless.

When it comes to updos that commemorate the 1950’s, there are several options. You can go with the classic bun, a low pulled ponytail with waves of hair cascading over your shoulder, gentle waves with side swept bangs, elaborate low laying buns with curls, and many more. All are guaranteed to be eye catching and glamorous.

Vintage Pieces:

 There are several vintage inspired decorations to add to your up-do. The most popular of which is a medium size clip that is placed slightly off center on the top of the head. The clip usually has a small piece of netted fabric or lace that hangs over the forehead, sequins, and maybe a flower. The clip colors are usually white, though cream or beige are also popular.

Rhinestone clips with pearls or sequins are another popular choice. These are usually clipped into the hair at the base of where it is pulled back. This clip hides pins and bands that were used to create the hairstyle while creating a beautiful highlight to your already gorgeous style.

You can also opt for a simple sequined headband that is reminiscent of the flapper girl style. The simple headband will draw attention to your makeup and your up-do without appearing gaudy.

Regardless of the style or accessory you choose, you can rest assured that you will add a glamorous and unique touch to any wedding dress and style. You do not need a retro inspired wedding in order to enjoy a hairstyle and accessory reminiscent of the era.
