One of my favorite ways to get more value from each dollar is to plan on combining functions. When you buy one item to do the work of two or three, you can go more upscale and save money at the same time. Here are some tips:

Use the same decorations at both the ceremony and reception.

Moving items will require logistical planning and is a perfect project for a “day of wedding” coordinator. If you do not have a coordinator, write a detailed checklist of ceremony and reception locations for every piece, and assign multiple helpers the job of moving them from one place to another. Ideas for decor that can play dual roles are:

1. Reuse every floral arrangement from the wedding at the reception.
2. Place ceremony bouquets in vases for centerpieces at tables.
3. Use the same chair sashes or covers for both wedding and reception.

5. Relocate the altar arch to the reception entrance way.
6. Decorate both the ceremony and reception doorways with the same tied-back curtains.

8. Make labels containing both table numbers and the menu; then adhere the labels to wine bottles at each table.
