Savings made on your wedding decorations can greatly reduce the total cost of your wedding. But this does not mean that your ceremony should lack the glamour and beauty of a well decorated wedding and reception venue. You can be very creative with your decorations and still do it on a low budget. Here are 10 very valuable ideas to help you accomplish this.
1. Make Good Use of Candles
Candles are romantic. They make very elegant wedding centerpieces; they also help to keep your decorating costs low. There are many creative ways to use candles for wedding decoration. You can use candles in combination with flowers or use them alone. They can also be used to decorate the aisle.
If you decide to use candles, ensure that you put them in fireproof bags or place them in a glass casing to forestall fire hazards.
2. Make Paper Pomander
Paper tissue pomanders are quite cheap yet they can be used to create a very nice effect. You can easily get them from a craft store. If you have the time you can create big paper pomanders by yourself. Use soft colors like pink, peach and mint green to create a very nice romantic effect. There are several good videos online that you can use to learn to make stunning decorations with these pomanders.
3. Use Branches in Place of Flowers
To save cost while decorating your wedding venue, consider the effective use of branches in place of flowers. Branches can be used to create some amazing effects while they save you the cost of purchasing expensive flowers. You can get branches from people’s yards (most will be glad to give them to you for free) or you can buy them online. However, ensure that you choose fresh and strong branches. Examples of nice decoration branches include: Cherry Blossoms, Grapewood, Birch, Manzanita and Curly willow.
4. Sprinkle the Aisle with Flower Petals
A cheap way to make use of flowers is to spread them right along the aisles of the wedding or reception venue. You don’t have to buy expensive flowers to do this. Use flowers that have several small petals. Even if you don’t have a flower girl, a friend can easily help you to sprinkle the flowers on the aisles before the ceremony starts.
5. Line Up the Aisle With Potted Plants
To create a unique effect, you can line up the aisle with large green potted plants. This creates the kind of atmosphere you have in garden weddings. This will not cost you a fortune. You can bring your plants from home or borrow a few from friends.
6. Use the Beauty of Nature
Outdoor, mountain, beach or garden weddings are already decorated by nature for you. If you want to enjoy the full beauty and blessings of blossoming flowers, you should endeavor to get married during spring.
7. Decorate Tables with Pot Plants
Another nice beautiful way to create a green wedding is to use pot plants as centerpieces. You can get these pot plants at a very cheap price. You may even decide to reward your wedding guests with these plants at the end of the reception.
8. Use Christmas Lights
To add decorative lighting, use the Christmas lights you already have. If you are using an outdoor setting, you can hang them on the trees; they can be placed on an arch in an indoor venue. In addition to Christmas lights, you can also use LED lights, torches and lanterns to provide decorative lightning at your wedding or reception venue. This is particularly useful if your reception takes place in the evening.
9. Decorate Your Venue with Wheat grass
If you are getting married in spring, wheat grass is one of the items you can use to decorate your wedding venue on a low budget. Wheat grass is quite easy to grow. You can purchase a wheat grass kit from a gardening store or a supermarket. Then, plan ahead and grow some seeds a couple of weeks before your wedding.
10. Create Sparkles with Water Pearls and LED Lights
Water pearls are not expensive but they provide a stylish and colorful effect. These small gel beads expand after they are soaked in water for a couple of hours. After they have reached their full size, they can be used to fill up vases with or without flowers. You can also add LED lights to give a nice shining and sparkling effect.
